Stressed Cat Symptoms

Stress can build a big barrier between you and your pet. It can make your cat uncomfortable and lead you to frustration. It can damage the relationship between you and your cat. To build a better relationship with your pet it is important to know common symptoms of a cat with stress. As health problems can cause sudden changes in cats' behavior, anytime your cat starts to show below symptoms you better visit the vet, just in case it is a health issue.

1. Litter box problems
A cat may start avoiding the litter box when it is in stress. But cat may avoid litter box for several other reasons like dirty litter box, litter box which doesn't fit for its size.

2. Territorial marking behaviors
If cat starts territorial marking behaviors like spraying without a reason, it is in stress.

3. Hiding
If your cat acts restlessly or panics for little things, if it spends lot of time hiding, it is in stress.

4. Redirected aggression
If your cat acts wildly and shows aggression toward people or other pets, it is in stress. It might be feeling threatened by an intruder so he is redirecting aggression towards everyone.

5. Decrease or increase of appetite
If your cat eats more or less than usual, it might be it is in stress. It might also do excessive grooming when it is in stress.

When your cat is in stress you must understand its situation. Help it to overcome stress by identifying the root cause for stress and showing much more love and sympathy. Cats with stress crave for attention; it is looking for your help.
